Short answer
HighLevel is a strong fit for agencies and service businesses that manage several client accounts and want CRM, messaging, pipelines, funnels and reporting in one login. It is a weak fit for a single business that needs a simple CRM, or for anyone who dislikes usage-based bills. Messaging, calling and AI are billed on top.
HighLevel (also written GoHighLevel) is a strong fit for agencies and service businesses that manage several client accounts and want CRM, messaging, pipelines, funnels and reporting in one login. It is a weak fit for a single business that needs a simple CRM, or for anyone who dislikes usage-based bills. The plan price is the smaller part of the cost; messaging, calling and AI are billed on top [1][2]. If cost is your main question, our is HighLevel worth it framework does the arithmetic with your numbers.
How we researched this
This is a research-based review; we did not use the product for it. We read HighLevel’s pricing page and help center articles on 2026-10-31, and HighLevel’s public Trustpilot page the same day as a secondary source for what reviewers say. We did not subscribe, build workflows or contact support, so we make no claims about how the product feels to use, how reliable it is, or how fast support answers. When you read a “worked for me” review elsewhere, check whether the author states the same limit.
We also disclose a conflict of interest. We earn a recurring commission when you sign up through our links, which are marked “affiliate”. See our affiliate disclosure and editorial policy. We do not claim discounts, extended trials or bonuses.
Who HighLevel is for
HighLevel’s plan cards say who it is aimed at: Starter for “smaller businesses and solo marketers”, Unlimited for “growing agencies” and Founder for “founders, agencies, consultants, and service providers looking to scale” [1]. In practice the structure rewards agencies: unlimited sub-accounts from $297 [1], rebilling of usage to clients [2][3], and snapshots to copy setups [5].
How much does HighLevel cost?
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Defining feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $97 | $970 | 3 sub-accounts, unlimited contacts and users |
| Unlimited | $297 | $2,970 | Unlimited sub-accounts, rebilling without markup, basic API access |
| Founder | $497 | $4,970 | Rebilling with markup, SaaS mode and the Founder feature set |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Contact sales | Account management, white label mobile app and HIPAA included |

Strengths
- Consolidation. One account covers CRM, email and SMS, calling, workflows and funnels [1]. If you pay for several of those tools today, the Software Stack Savings calculator shows what dropping them is worth.
- No sub-account cap from $297 [1], published plainly on the pricing page.
- Snapshots. You can copy pages, automations and pipelines between sub-accounts and share them with other agencies [5].
- White label. A white label domain is documented with a CNAME setup and no stated plan requirement [7].
- Published rates. Email is $0.675 per 1,000 and A2P registration fees are listed as passthrough charges [2][4], so you can estimate usage cost.
- No contacts or users cap on Starter [1].
Weaknesses
- Usage costs sit outside the plan. Email, SMS, calling, Conversation AI, Voice AI and Reviews AI carry “usage based charges” [1]. A wallet auto-recharges your card when the balance gets low [2].
- Key agency features need the $497 plan. Rebilling with markup is Founder-only [2][3]. The help center says rolled-up reporting is “only available on the Pro Plan” at $497 [6].
- Naming is inconsistent. The $497 plan is “Founder” on its card and “Pro Plan” in the FAQ [1][6].
- US texting needs registration first. All businesses using LC Phone must register brand and campaign through The Campaign Registry, with one-time and monthly fees [4].
- Snapshots are not full copies. They exclude contacts, conversations, integrations and Stripe connections, and they do not update on their own [5].
- Vertical gaps. HighLevel’s real estate page does not describe built-in MLS or IDX listing data; IDX comes up only in a customer testimonial about using a third-party IDX tool alongside HighLevel [8].
- Breadth means setup work. This is an inference from the number of features and settings in the documentation, not a measurement.
Support
HighLevel lists 24/7 support on Starter, a Premium Support add-on at $500 per month, and dedicated customer success and account managers on Enterprise [1]. We have no data of our own on response times or resolution quality.
The closest public signal is review sites. When we read HighLevel’s Trustpilot page on 2026-10-31 it showed a TrustScore of 4.9 (“Excellent”) from 15,270 reviews [10]. Trustpilot’s own AI-generated summary of recent reviews said reviewers mostly praised support staff, while some reported slow responses and little follow-up on unresolved tickets, and a smaller number found account access, sign-up or cancellation hard to get through [10]. Reviewers there choose themselves and we did not verify individual reviews, so treat these as questions to ask in the trial, not findings.
Learning curve
We did not use the product, so this is an inference. HighLevel exposes many separate systems (CRM, workflows, phone, email, funnels, reporting, SaaS billing), each with its own settings and, for texting, a registration process [1][4]. Plan for setup time before you connect a client, and read the wallet and A2P settings first [2][4].
Total cost: a worked example
Assumptions (our volumes, HighLevel’s published rates): one business on Starter, 2,000 SMS segments and 10,000 emails a month, one local number, a standard A2P campaign.
- Starter plan: $97 [1]
- SMS: 2,000 × $0.00747 = $14.94 [9]
- Email: 10 × $0.675 = $6.75 [2]
- Local number: $1.15 per month [9]
- Standard A2P campaign: $10.00 per month per HighLevel’s A2P fees article [4], plus a one-time $22.50 to $64.00 [4]. HighLevel’s newer phone pricing guide lists $1.50 to $10.50 a month for low-volume campaigns and $10.50 for high-volume [9], so allow for the higher figure
That is about $129.84 a month before carrier fees, taxes and one-time registration. The point is not the number, it is that usage adds roughly a third to the plan price at this volume. Use the Agency Profit calculator for your own volumes.
Verdict by audience
| Audience | Verdict |
|---|---|
| Agency with 4+ clients | Likely fits. Start on Unlimited; move to Founder only if you will mark up usage [1][2]. |
| Solo consultant, 1 to 3 clients | Starter can work; test the usage costs in the trial [1]. |
| Single local business | Often more than you need unless you value one system for follow-up, booking and reviews. |
| Real estate agent or team | Fits follow-up automation; the vendor page does not describe built-in MLS or IDX, so plan for listing data separately [8]. See HighLevel for real estate. |
| Course creator | Compare with a creator platform first; see HighLevel vs Kajabi. |
| Team that wants a deep sales CRM | Compare with HubSpot; see HighLevel vs HubSpot. |
Who should not choose HighLevel
- You want one fixed monthly bill.
- You will never use sub-accounts, rebilling or snapshots.
- You do not want to learn a large platform.
- You need regulated-industry features without checking HIPAA terms first; HIPAA is a $297 per month add-on or included on Enterprise [1].

What to check in the trial
A review built on documents can only get you so far. If you start HighLevel’s 14-day trial, these are the checks that settle whether the weaknesses above will bite you:
- Usage. Send a realistic batch of test texts and emails to your own numbers, then compare the wallet charge with the rates above [2][9].
- Registration. Start A2P registration on day one and note how long approval takes for your business type [4].
- Plan gating. Confirm that every feature you are buying the plan for is available on it. Several agency features are tied to the $497 plan [2][3][6].
- Snapshot. Build one snapshot from a working setup and load it into a blank sub-account. Count what you had to redo [5].
- Support. Ask one real question and note how long the answer takes. We could not test this [1][10].
- Cancellation. Find the cancel path before the trial ends, because billing starts automatically [1].
Bottom line
HighLevel is built for agencies and does that job with published prices and a usable amount of documentation. Treat the plan price as the floor. If the numbers work in your own calculation, try HighLevel for 14 daysaffiliate (opens HighLevel in a new tab) and check the usage rates against a real client’s volume before you bill anyone.

Questions
Is HighLevel legitimate?
It is a real software product with published plans, a pricing page and a detailed help center [1][2]. Whether it suits you is a separate question, and this page is about that.
What are the biggest downsides of HighLevel?
Usage-based charges that sit outside the plan price [1][2]; plan gating of reselling and reporting features to the $497 tier [3][6]; US texting registration before you can send [4]; and a large feature set to learn.
How good is HighLevel support?
The pricing page lists 24/7 support on Starter, a Premium Support add-on at $500 a month and dedicated account management on Enterprise [1]. We have not tested response times and make no claim about quality.
Is HighLevel worth it?
For agencies serving several clients it often can be, because sub-accounts are uncapped from $297 [1]. For a single business with simple needs it frequently is not. See the [decision guide](/guides/is-highlevel-worth-it/).
Does HighLevel have a free trial?
Its pricing page shows a 14-day free trial on any plan, with billing starting automatically afterwards unless you cancel, and usage fees possible during the trial [1].
